Tom and Gatsby go at it with eachother when tom confronts Gatsby with the fact that he knows that he and DAisy have been having an affair. Tom does not like Gatsby and thinks he is a fraud. He had an investigation done on him and discovered that Gatsby had never gone to Oxford. Gatsby on the other hand thinks Tom is a joke and a cruel husband who he claims Daisy has never loved. They both have in common the fact that they are both in love with Daisy. They are both different in their commitment to Daisy. Gatsby has been obsessed with her for five years. While Tom has been cheating on her with Myrtle.
Gatsby and Tom fight like two immature middle school boys over a girl. Gatsby tries to weaken Tom by saying Daisy never loved him. Tom knows that Daisy loves Gatsby so he makes Gatsby out to be a liar by saying he never went to Oxford. Daisy's affection for Gatsby begins to shift towards Tom because she knows Gatsby is a liar. Like Denis said, they have a similar love for Daisy. Gatsby truely feels for Daisy, on the other hand, Tom looks at her as a possession.
Tom finds out that DAisy and Gatsby are having an affair and with this knowledge he confronts Gatsby. Both don't like each other which makes the fight escalate out of control. Tom knows everything about Gatsby and how he never really went to college and about all the lies he told. I think that DAisy deserves alot better than Tom and he will get whats coming to him.
Tom and Gatsby start to argue and fight when Tom confronts Gatsby about Daisy. The two men both love Daisy, but are different because they are both different around Daisy. Tom says that Gatsby never went to Oxford and Gatsby says that Tom is a liar.
I think Tom and Gatsby are alike because they are both rich and used to having what they want. In this case they both want Daisy, but that obviously cant happen. Tom is jealous of Gatsby and doesnt like him and has an investigation done on him. Gatsby does not really care because he knows stuff about Toms friends so Tom wont give him up to the police. They both fight and bring things up that they dont like about eachother, but the true fight is really over Daisy.
The fight between Gatsby and Tom begins with tom putting it out in the open the affair Daisy and Gatsby were having. The argument leads up to Gatsby declaring that daisy never loved him and that she was leaving Tom. Tom counter with how much he loves her and that none of the statement is true. Tom says that he has gotten info on Gatsby and that he is not who hey think he is. The two men bicker at each other until it is too much for daisy to bear, so they all leave.Gatsby and Tom have a deep resent for one another. they think each other are liars which really they both are. they hate each other for mistreating who they both think is their love. They both lie, they both are angry and they are both in love with daisy. Gatsby has more of a devotion to daisy than Toms like of Daisy's company. They both hold secrets but it is assumed that Gatsby's are much worse. Gatsby and Tom will continue to argue for their like cause until one wins.
Tom and Gatsby begin to have a fight over Daisy. When Tom told Gatsby that he knows they have been having an affair, Tom began to have different feelings about Gatsby. He thinks of him as an untrustworthy person and will probably never be able to trust him ever again. Gatsby may really love Daisy but Tom, is just obesessed with her.
Tom and Gatsby get into a fight when Tom confronts Gatsby about him and Daisy. Tom tells Gatsby that he knows that Gatsby and Daisy have been having an affair. After this incident, Tom changes his thoughts on what he thinks of Gatsby. Tom and Gatsby are both similar because they are confused on what they both want in life. They are also very different as well. They are different because they do not think in the same ways. Tom is cheating on his wife, while Gatsby is just trying to get back together with his lifelong love.
Tom and Gatsby’s argument around Daisy begins with Tom mocking Gatsby and calling him a lair, having Gatsby defending himself and denying what Tom says. Then Tom asks Gatsby about what is going on with Daisy, putting it out there that he officially knows what is going on between them. This is when the argument between them really gets started, causing them to quarrel over which one of them loves Daisy more. Both Tom and Gatsby are similar because they both love Daisy. To me, it is obvious that Gatsby loves Daisy a lot more than Tom, and that Gatsby actually cares about her. That is the main difference between Gatsby and Tom, that Gatsby is a caring person when Tom is just not. Both of them love Daisy in their own ways. Gatsby has a more caring and passionate love for her, when it seems as if Tom has a more laid back and unserious love for her. Because of this argument, Gatsby and Tom resent and hate each other even more and they will probably resent each other throughout the rest of the book.
When Tom constantly bothers Gatsby, Gatsby get defensive and declares that he and Daisy are in love. They get into a fight trying to prove who Daisy loves more. They both become blind by rage but never get physical. They both hate each other very much.
