Fitzgerald lists all Gatsby's guest to show really how many people went to his house. The long list of people reveals what kind of people go to Gatsby's. People come from everywhere and from every profession to party at this one mansion on East Egg.

Fitzgerald listed all of the the party guests to show how influential he is. Not only are all of the people who visited Gatsby from all around the world but they were all powerful and wealthy people. The more powerful the people that show up the more powerful Gatsby seems.

I think that Fitzgerald listed all of the people that attended Gatsby's party to show how popular and successful his parties are, since so many people come. We also learn that not only do people close by attend, but wealthy and powerful people from all over attend. This shows how popular and important people must think Gatsby and his parties are.

As Dan said, the list was made to show the different types of people that go to Gatsby's huge parties. The odd thing is that the list of people does not seem like the type who would cope well together. I guess at Gatsby's parties though, ego's are left behind because guests just want to have a good time.

Fitzgerald lists all of Gatsbys guests to show how many people came to his parties. He also lists some people that are known in the community. It shows who Gatsby knows and is friends with. Like when he doesnt get pulled over because the Comissioner owes him a favor. Gatsby has a lot of power and influence over people.

Everyone wants to go to them so when they show up, people believe that it will improve his name and give him better standards in his social rank.

Fitzgerald decides to list all of the people who attend Gatsby's parties because he wanted to know where these people would come from and if they were important people. It turns out that people who go to his parties are very wealthy and well known people.

Fitzgerald list Gatsby's guests to show just how many people both important and unimportant go to Gatsby' parties. It shows that no matter what you do or who you are you are welcome at Gatsby's. It also shows just how many important people Gatsby has influence or a relationship with.
