The significance of the green light is hope for Gatsby. As long as he sees that green light he knows that Daisy is still close to him. And he can still have hope in his heart.

I agree with Olivia. The light seems to be a beacon of hope for Gatsby. He believes that the light is a representation of the relationship between Gatsby and Daisy. There seems to be some hop left.

We can tell that the mention of the green light ad how it stay lit all night that Gatsby has spent many night looking of that light dreaming of being with or just meeting Daisy again. With the light on Gatsby has faith that she is still close to him and them being together is still possible and will happen. The light is what assures him that he has not lost her.

What Olivia said is definitely the truth. This green light symbolizes hope and faith that Gatsby has, for he spends long nights outside staring at the light coming from her dock and dreaming about her. This light symbolizes Gatsby thinking and wanting a chance with him and Daisy, or so he hopes there certainly still is.

The green light is hope for Gatsby. When he looks at it he hopes for Daisy. He hopes that they can be together. He hopes to see her again. It reassures him knowing that Tom is still there, so that he might get to see Daisy again.

The green light signifies his hope and desparation for Daisy. He knows that he is thinking about her and also that maybe, Daisy is thinking of him. Even in the beginning of the novel, far before he knew that Nick knew Daisy he thought about her and looked at the light. This will also prevail the years that he will not see Daisy.

I also agree with Olivia. Gatsby needed some hope for a relationship between him and Daisy and he found it in the green light.
