The Great Gatsby Chapter 7 Question 7

What do you think Tom and Daisy were saying to each other in the kitchen? Do you think that Tom knew Daisy was driving the "death car"? Why, why not?

I think Tom and daisy were talking about the accident. I do no think Tom knows daisy was driving. If he thought she was or knew she was i would think their conversation would have been much more harsh. I think the discussion began with Tom talking, reasoning with Daisy about their relationship and then daisy ended up talking about the accident, opening up. Maybe even, they were planning to blame Gatsby. I think they could have been discussing how to get Daisy off the hook, get Gatsby out of the picture, and start all over.

I agree with Dan. Daisy and Tom were talking about the accident. They had to have been because Tom knew that Gatsby and Daisy were riding back to West Egg in the yellow car that Gatsby owned. I do not believe that Tom knew that Daisy was the driver because as Dan says, the conversation would have been much harsher than it looked from Nick's point of view. I believe somewhat Dan believes. That is how to get Daisy out of this terrible mess.

I also think that Tom and Daisy were talking about the accident. Tom knew that Gatsby and Daisy were driving the yellow car and i think that Daisy lied and did not tell tom that she was the one driving because if she did then the conversation would have been different. Nick says that it looked like they were planning something and i think they were planning a way to get out of the mess and pin it all on Gatsby.
