Seasons are used in this novel due to the setting. There are cetain things that you can do in certain seasons and that is how the seasons play a role in this novel.

I agree with Josh. The seasons play a role in what activities the characters can take part in. For example, during the hot summer months, Nick and the rest of the crew cannot do much because of the intense heat. During the end of the summer, Gatsby is able to swim even though it is not that hot out.

In different season's the characters do different things. Gatsby likes to swim more than he did earlier in the book.

I agree with Nick, Josh, and Sean, but also, during the summer was the part of the book when nothing was out on the table, everyone kept their secrets. And now hard times are at bay and the fall is rolling around. So they also play a big part in establishing a mood.

The season's affect the setting because when it was hot out they were not able to do too much due to the heat opposed to when it was not as hot out Gatsby likes to swim more.

The seasons are used in this novel because of the setting. I think that as the seasons change, so do the characters. As the characters change, so do their thought, beliefs and actions as well.

Seasons are used in the novel to influence the setting and the mood. In the summer everything was pleasant. Everything was hidden ad the appearance was one of happiness. As the fall comes however everything turns to chaos. The secrets are all revealed and turmoil breaks out between everyone.

I am agreeing with pretty much everyone on this one. Throughout the season changes, there is not only a change in setting and mood, but a change in the characters. Like Dan said, each season seems to symbolize a type of mood, which will lead to certain events happening. During the summer, things are pleasant. But when the characters are sweltering hot is when drama unfolds and heats up.

The seasons can control what you do during the day. In the novel they can go out and have fun in the summer, they like to go to town and have drinks and stuff. At the end of the summer Gatsby says that he wants to swim before it gets cold, and he hadn't used his pool all summer.

I agree with josh as well. the seasons in the novel affect what each character wants or likes to do. For example Gatsby says that before it gets cold out he likes to swim much more often.

Seasons are used in this novel by activities that take place. They help determine what goes on.

The seasons are used in this novel to show the change in the characters. At first in the summer everything was new and exciting, Gatsby would throw a party pretty much every other night. But now during the Fall things start to settle down there are is no more "excitment" just chaos.

The seasons show a change in the characters moods and emotions as well as the temperature.Like Olivia said, the characters all held their secrets in during the summer, but once the colder seasons came around, their cold-hearted secrets came out.

Seasons are used in the novel to influence setting and mood. The end of summer it was kind of hot and Gatsby could swim and the mood was nice. The fall brought cold weather and tensions began to rise.
