When Nick first sees Gatsby he describes him as very focused with short hair and tan skin. He saw nothing sinister about him. he also nitced that he was not drinking and this aroused his interests.
When Nick frist sees Gatsby, he says that he is a tall man with short hair & tan skin. When he got a good look at him he realized that he did not think he looked like someone who would actually kill a man. He said that there was noithing to worry about with him. He was also more intrigued with the fact that he was at one of his own "gatherings" and he was not drinking. Gatsby definately kept Nick thinking.
